Public/Media Relations

PR is all about utilizing communications to build relationships and trust with stakeholders. We help clients achieve this through community relations initiatives, thought leadership positioning, speaking engagements, strategic partnerships and, of course, media relations.

Media relations is arguably the most visible PR discipline and what we do best! We have a proven track record of generating publicity. The key to that is forging and nurturing relationships with writers, editors, producers and news directors.

We speak and write in their language, respect their deadlines, provide credible sources and pitch appropriate subject matter. Having a “nose for news” is critical and we know how to find the right angle. Journalists rely on that and seek us out for their stories. Our campaigns include the following:

Special Events

From benefit concerts to book signings, chef events to corporate anniversaries, fashion shows to festivals, galas to golf tournaments, groundbreakings to grand openings, product rollouts to press conferences and walk/runs to wine tastings, we have you covered!

Our role can be handling event PR exclusively, or we can conceptualize and build the entire event from scratch. Services include any and all of the following:

  • Provide overall event strategy
  • Consult on/create event theme, décor, invitations and program materials
  • Select venue
  • Select/manage caterers, entertainers, photographers and other vendors
  • Procure prizes and specialty items
  • Recruit emcee, celebrity judges, speakers and/or other special guests
  • Coordinate media and corporate sponsorships
  • Oversee event ads – copy points, logos, graphic design
  • Advise on promotional strategy
  • Write/distribute press releases, PSAs, calendar listings and media advisories
  • Coordinate pre-event coverage with public affairs producers, morning show producers, assignment editors, food media, features media, real estate media, etc.
  • Script the event and write speeches
  • For nonprofit events, pitch features on clients with mission connections, the event chairs, honorees, etc.
  • Coordinate media coverage of the event
  • Manage post-event activities (i.e. photos/captions, follow-up media announcements, thank you correspondence, etc.)

A good communications strategy is comprehensive and integrated. It looks at the big picture. Consistent messaging is critical – especially with more platforms now available for stakeholders to learn about your brand.

Most of our writing is done behind the scenes on behalf of our clients. We edit their materials or create original content – with their byline or none at all. That being said, we love when editors offer freelance assignments!
